Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service

"Life's most persistent and urgent question is: What are you doing for others?"

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

As part of the National Day of Service in honor of the birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr., members of the Helping Hands Community Service Club at Oxford Area High School devoted between two and four hours of their day off on January 16 to volunteer in the Oxford area. Projects included cleaning at the Lighthouse Youth Center and Oxford Senior Center, and shelving books at the Oxford Public Library. Many of the club members volunteered to help prepare for the Spirit of Giving Luncheon to benefit the Neighborhood Services Center of Oxford, which is hosted annually by the high school on Martin Luther King Day. This was the eighth straight year that OAHS students have participated in the National Day of Service.
