Pre-participation packet

Attention student-athletes!

Physicals are due by the first day of tryouts or practice. You will not be allowed to participate if your physical is not turned in.

Avoid problems and get your physical turned in now! Athletes who already have had a sports physical for the new school year only need to notify the athletic trainer that they will be participating in a new sport.

When planning your physical, please use the PIAA physical available on this webpage and in the front office at the high school.

Unless a significant injury occurs, only one physical examination is required for the school year. Also, please include the emergency information/medication permission slip with your packet when you turn it in.

Please turn the packet in to the office or athletic trainer, not to your coach. Please review the physicals policy for any questions you may have.

The requirements for PIAA physicals have changed. They are now accepting "comprehensive" physicals for one whole school year!

Fact: Athletic trainers are regulated and licensed health care workers.

While practice act oversight varies by state, the athletic trainers practice under state statute recognizing them as health care professionals similar to physical therapists, occupational therapists and similar mid-level professionals.

Athletic training licensure/regulation exists in 43 states, with aggressive efforts underway to pursue licensure in the remaining states. Athletic trainers practice under the direction of physicians.
