Board, administrators cannot legally comment on personnel issues
Oxford Area School District Superintendent Dr. Raymond Fischer announced that Oxford Area High School Principal Dr. David Madden will be out indefinitely as of March 26. Because this announcement pertains to a personnel issue, Dr. Fischer, district administration and school board members are not at liberty to comment further on the matter.
The administration and school board acknowledge that the confidential nature of personnel issues often leads to rumor and speculation among community members. While students, parents and guardians, and residents deserve to have their questions addressed, in cases involving personnel there is, by law, a process and procedure that must be followed. Facts and details cannot be disclosed prematurely without violating Pennsylvania School Code.
In order to keep distractions to a minimum and to ensure that the needs of the students are met, Dr. Fischer announced on March 30 that Dr. Anthony Georeno, a retired superintendent of the Pottstown School District, has been named temporary principal of Oxford Area High School effective April 2. Dr. Georeno has 38 years of educational experience beginning as a special education teacher. He then became a licensed school psychologist and several years later pursued an administrative career as a school principal, supervisor of special education, director of pupil services, assistant superintendent and superintendent.
Dr. Georino also served as a distinguished educator for the Pennsylvania Department of Education, working with the Reading and William Penn school districts.
