Oxford Area High School schedules summer basketball camp

Oxford Area High School will hold the 2014 Hornets Basketball Camps for boys and girls ages 8 to 14 from Tuesday, June 24 to Thursday, June 26 in the air-conditioned gymnasium of the high school located at 705 Waterway Road, East Nottingham. Each session will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

For a $65 registration fee, campers will receive quality, daily instruction on the fundamentals of dribbling, passing, shooting and defense. A free T-shirt will be presented to each participant.

The camps will be directed by Sean Harvey, who just completed his 12th season as head boys' basketball coach. During his tenure the Hornets have won two District 1 championships, three league championships, and five division championships.

Coach Harvey has also developed four Daily Local News Players of the Year in Damon Bogan, Ryan Bogan, Julius Gray and Darren El. Each player scored over 1,000 points in his career, with Ryan Bogan named PIAA first team All-State in his senior year. Coach Harvey has 20 years experience running camps and is dedicated to making Oxford's camp the best experience for your son or daughter.

The camps are designed to help young athletes develop into sound basketball players. The principles of sportsmanship, respect, and teamwork are incorporated into each drill and game.

"We want to make sure that each camper has a fun-filled week packed with individual skills and team concepts that will increase his or her knowledge level of the game of basketball," said Coach Harvey.

Registration for both the boys' and girls' camps is being held through Tuesday, June 24. Payment will be accepted on the first day of camp if necessary.

Forms and payment can be submitted to the main office of Oxford Area High School, 705 Waterway Road, Oxford, PA 19363, or mailed to the school.
