OAHS FBLA chapter sends 22 members to State Leadership Conference
Oxford Area High School hosted the Pennsylvania FBLA Region 9 Leadership Conference on December 8, with 22 members qualifying to attend the Pennsylvania FBLA State Leadership Conference to be held from April 16 to 18 at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center. For the second year in a row, the Oxford chapter of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) hosted the Pennsylvania FBLA Region 9 Leadership Conference and Competition on December 8. Over 600 students from 14 area high schools attended, including 101 Oxford students. Attendees competed in several business-related categories, with 22 Oxford chapter members qualifying for the state competition to be held April 16 to 18 at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center. Oxford students advancing to the state level are seniors Meghan Harvey, first place for Job Interview; senior Michaela Quigley, first place for Ms. Future Business Leader; sophomore Erin Reph, first place for FBLA Principles & Procedures; senior Alex Wharton, second place for Computer Applications; the team of seniors Ashley Gatlos and Stephanie Kruzynski, second place for Desktop Publishing; freshman Maddy Lehr, second place for Introduction to Business Communication; senior James Comyns, second place for World Processing II; junior Kerri Mundy, third place for Computer Applications; the team of seniors Joseph Gray and Caleb Stevenson, third place for Desktop Publishing; freshman Mackenzie Johnson, third place for FBLA Principles and Procedures; sophomore Alyssa Sniechoski, third place for Intro to Business Communication; freshman Julianna Follmar, third place for Introduction to Parliamentary Procedure; senior Patrick Boggs, third place for Spreadsheets; freshman Becca Portugal, third place for Word Processing I; junior Anne Nusbaum, fourth place for Business Communications; sophomore Brianne Roper, fourth place for Business Math; sophomore Hannah Cummiskey, fourth place for FBLA Principles & Procedures; freshman Elaine Estes, fifth place for Intro to Parliamentary Procedure; and junior Paul Brisgone, fifth place for Networking Concepts. Senior Joseph Cosentino qualified for the state competition as one of 10 finalists in the state-only Computer Game & Simulation Programming event. Stephanie Kruzynski and Ashley Gatlos will also be recognized for their community service project for Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Kerri Mundy was elected Region 9 secretary for 2012-13, and Oxford was named Outstanding Region 9 FBLA chapter for the fifth consecutive year.
