Welcome to the Oxford Area School District. We are located in the southern part of Chester County, an area that has experienced unprecedented residential growth in recent years.
Oxford is meeting the challenge of this growth with a secondary schools’ expansion project that includes a state-of-the-art high school and additions and renovations to the former high school to house students in grades seven and eight. In recent years our school district has made great strides in all its programs, both academic and extra-curricular.
A staff of approximately 425 professional and support personnel serves approximately 3,600 students. A nine-member school board works collaboratively with the staff to ensure the best possible educational program.
The board, administration, and staff are committed to providing the needed support and instruction to meet our goals. However, the support of parents and community is also needed to complete the formula for success.
Community support is evident in the partnerships our schools enjoy with parents, senior citizens, and the business community. Oxford students are provided with a strong foundation of basic skills, preparation for post-secondary education and the world of work, and character education.
In our effort to comply with the federal No Child Left Behind law, the Oxford Area School District has established initiatives and programs that address the needs of all segments of our population. No Child Left Behind in Pennsylvania is being implemented by measuring student achievement in state-mandated tests known as the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSAs).
Each year, we analyze the PSSA scores and other assessment instruments to pinpoint strengths and gaps in our educational program. We continue to look at all grade levels in our ongoing effort to ensure success for all students.
As part of our strong emphasis on reading, we have staffed our schools with reading specialists who work with the regular classroom teachers and provide added assistance to students experiencing difficulty. In everything we do, our highest priority is always the students.
I invite you to visit our schools and witness first-hand our students and staff engaged in the exciting process of growing and learning. The Oxford Area School District is committed to maintaining and improving upon the results, support, and successes that our students and staff have worked so hard to achieve.
